The Environmental Impact

Right from the very first gathering in 2004 we have made an effort to reduce unnecessary waste, recycle and use alternative sources of energy (solar and wind).  Each year we grow we intend to invest a little in new equipment that helps reduce our negative environmental impact.

Toilets

We have always aimed to minimise porta loos which use unnecessary chemicals and fuel to transport their contents to the nearest processing plant.

This year we will again be using mainly plumbed in toilets but a few porta loos will be around to service those spaces that are too far away from these facilities. In future we aim to use compost toilets but still need to sort out the logistics!

Energy

Where possible we try to minimise our electricity use, these efforts are particularly focused around low power stage lighting and the use of LED's where practical.

We don't use generators (they're noisy, smelly and generally a pain) instead our electricity is either sourced from a Green energy company (national grid) or generated on site by solar and wind generators.

We have a good supply of Biodiseal sourced from UK recycled veg oil and use this to run most of the vans that are used throughout the festival.

Recycling

We will have facilities to recycle paper/cardboard, glass, metal and organic waste.

The bar and caterers will have to provide biodegradable cups, bowls etc. so as to reduce the amount of non-recyclable waste produced.

Car Sharing

This year we like many other festivals have implemented a car tax for anyone who comes to the event with 2 or less people in their car/van (please contact us in advance if you are coming in a green hybrid 2 seater and we can make arrangements).

The £5 tax is there to encourage those who are planning to drive alone or with just 1 passenger to seek out fellow festival goers on route and share the drive.  Any money raised will go directly into making next year's event greener (e.g. compost toilets / free mini bus from train station).  Please use our forum to request or advertise a lift.

The festival is easily accessible by public transport . Details will be published with your ticket .
